The 12th of July, Musicanova Choir will be back with the renowned theatrical performance “Roma che in…canta” in a slighty shorter version, in occasion of the ArdeForte – Free Music Festival 2017. A festival that, for four days, will transform the Forte Ardeatino park in sport, cultural, social activism and of course, musical area!
Singing is a bit like acting, but what would happen if we mixed the two arts in one show? The current performance of “Roma che in…canta” is a product of a show that has been in our repertoire for over ten years, modernised in the July of 2015 in occasion of our participation in EXPO Milan, as the musical group representing Lazio region.
The dialogues and the characters have been re-imagined and renovated: the characters find themselves in an imaginary roman plaza at the beginning of the 1900. There are drunkards and laundresses, shoe-shiners and musicians, and also an attractive country girl, Maria Necola, whom everyone tries to seduce. The main theme is the most ancient of all: love. The entire show is enriched by traditional roman folk musical pieces such as “Tanto pe’ cantà” and “Ohilì Ohilà”, which choreography was totally renewed for the choir participation in the International Choral Competition “Florilege Vocal de Tours”, which was held just one month ago.
Having the possibility to tell the story of our own territory, with the help of singing and acting, in an entirely free roman’s summer event, is a great opportunity to show the power of music as a tool for culture and social aggregation. So don’t miss it!
